Rocko is not really into what O-Town has become since they left and does not share Heffer and Filburt's enthusiasm for the 21st century. One of the bigger ones is the introduction of the smartphone (which continuously needs an update), radioactive energy drinks, food trucks, and coffee shops on every corner. Upon arriving back in town, Rocko and friends learn about the modern amenities they had missed out on while being in space.

The movie takes place after the events of the last episode of the iconic Nicktoons series and finds the gang returning to O-Town after 25 years in space. Thankfully, Netflix was listening and have released the new trailer ahead of the August release date. A teaser was released earlier this month and it just left fans of the original series wanting more. Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling is all set to premiere Friday, August 9th, exclusively on Netflix. Now, we have the trailer and an official release date. In May 2019, it was revealed that the movie was still on the way, but that it was going to be streaming on Netflix instead of Nickelodeon. However, that year came and went, and fans were wondering what was happening with the long awaited project. The movie was first announced back in 2016 by Nickelodeon and was supposed to premiere on the network in 2018. Netflix has released the trailer for Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling.
